To get to Taghazout, fly to Agadir–Al Massira Airport (AGA) and take a 30 to 45 minute transfer north. There is one practical route, and it takes less than a day from most of Europe.

Getting there

Flights to Taghazout: which airport and how long

Flights to Taghazout land at Agadir–Al Massira (AGA), about 30 to 45 minutes from the surf camp. Many cities in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries have direct flights to Agadir, and there are more of them between October and April. Routes change every season, so check a flight search such as Skyscanner or Google Flights for your dates.

Marrakech is sometimes cheaper but adds another 3 hours or more by road. For a surf trip, flying into Agadir is almost always the better choice.

Booking tips for your Taghazout flight

When to book

Prices rise from December to February and in school holidays. Booking early and travelling midweek is usually cheaper. Flights are the biggest cost variable of the whole trip: from about €60 off-season on a budget airline to €300 or more at peak times.

Tell your camp your landing time

Send your flight number and landing time when you book, so a driver is waiting for you at Arrivals with a sign. Most packages include the airport pick-up.

Boards and wetsuits

Airlines treat surfboards as sports baggage and charge extra. If you book a camp, you can use the camp's boards and wetsuits and travel light.

Morocco's Atlantic coast works nearly all year, but conditions change a lot by season. If you want the biggest and most reliable swell, aim for December to February. If you would rather learn in smaller, friendlier waves with fewer people in the water, May to September is the quieter trade-off.

What to pack for a Morocco surf trip

Surf gear

A 3/2 mm wetsuit covers most of the season. Add a 4/3 mm or a hooded vest for December to February. Reef boots are optional, but useful at some of the rockier breaks around Taghazout Bay. Most camps rent boards and wetsuits if you would rather travel light.

Sun and weather

Bring reef-safe sunscreen, because the Moroccan sun is stronger than it looks, even in winter. Pack a warm layer for the evenings, as the coast cools down fast after sunset even when the days are warm.

Cash and bags

Take a dry bag for the beach walk and to keep phones and cash dry. Bring some Moroccan dirham: many small vendors, taxis and cafes do not take cards, so withdraw at an ATM in Agadir or Taghazout rather than relying on your home currency.
